NUNAWADING BASKETBALL | The Nunawading ‘Burwood One’ Spectres have officially re-signed big man Jon Cooke for the inaugural Elite League season, the program announcing earlier today.

Cooke played a pivotal role off the bench for the Spectres in 2018, supporting former league MVP Simon Conn and American Dain Swetalla as they formed one of the more formidable frontcourts in the SEABL competition.

“I’m really excited to be back with Nunawading,” Cooke said on putting pen to paper.

“I’m proud to be playing another season for my junior rep club and the same club both mum and dad played for.”

“It’s going to be another great season backing up Simon and Dain, and hopefully giving Dave (Biwer) the flexibility to run some different looking line-ups during the year, as well as a chance to win the first Elite League title.”

Spectres Head Coach Dave Biwer also excited to be including Cooke as his team prepares to go one step better than last season.

“Cookie is the most coachable guy on our roster. He makes us better every session just by the way he approaches everything we do.”

“The more we can translate that into a game scenario, the more important his role becomes playing alongside Simon and Dain.”

Cooke becomes the third official signing for the Spectres men’s team, with Simon Conn and Tom Wright also confirmed ahead of the 2019 season.

With the Spectres having already commenced preseason work, it is expected that more official announcement will be made in the coming days.
