WEST RETURNS TO SEABL FOR SPECTRES
NUNAWADING BASKETBALL | The Nunawading ‘Burwood One’ Spectres are excited to announce that Brooke West will make her return to South East Australian Basketball League competition in 2018.
West made her senior debut for the Spectres in the 2012 SEABL season, playing 4 years in the programs senior team before taking a step back to Nunawading’s Youth Championship side allowing a heavier focus on study commitments.
“I’m so excited for the opportunity to be re-joining the SEABL team this upcoming season,” West said.
“I’m looking forward to improving my game further, playing with and against some of the strongest guards in the country.”
West, like a number of her team mates will transition into the Spectres side having already played for newly appointed Head Coach Paul Flynn.
“I’m looking forward to be working with Flynnie again, alongside an incredible group of talented players and coaches.”
“Brooke is a talented young guard that brings some SEABL experience back into our group,” Flynn said.
“She brings a tenacity on the defensive end that coaches crave and will get some big assignments this season.”
“Her length and ability to change tempo make her a difficult match up and I’m keen to see her rise to the challenges set for her across the year.”
West joins an already strong contingent of players confirmed for the Spectres, including star performers Izzy Chilcott and Hanna Zavecz, Jacqui Trotto, Sherry Glennie, Tessa Boyd, Keeley Frawley and U17 World Championship Gold Medallist Lucy Cochrane.
With a number of player announcements still expected, Flynn is driving his team to adopt a style of play that will be both successful and inspiring to watch.
“The strength of a program like Nunawading is the incredible association we represent. With close to 12,000 players, coaches and officials participating in regular competition across our MEBA and GEBC fixtures, we’d love to be able to inspire another generation of promising young players.”
“The girls we have on court already embody the hard work it takes to chase dreams. They are wonderful role models and ambassadors of our program.”
