Abridged Tournament Rules 2026<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

  1. Under age as at 31st December in the year the Tournament is held \u2013 Club Representative \/ Team organiser to verify ages of Club Entries.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Players are restricted to playing in one (1) team and age group only. The Tournament Committee shall in exceptional circumstances waive this condition if prior approval is applied for.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Cualquier n\u00famero de jugadores puede ser nominado para representar a un Club en un equipo en particular, pero only twelve (12)<\/strong> jugadores<\/strong> are able to play in any one game. This includes all finals games.
    \nif a scoresheet is used<\/strong> In all minor games, a player who takes the court must be signed in by marking \u2018X\u00a0 in the \u2018 player in \u2018 column.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Players must play in at least two minor round games to qualify for Semi (if scheduled) and Grand Finals. The Tournament Committee shall in exceptional circumstances waive this condition if prior approval is applied for.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. TEAM QUALIFICATION – <\/strong>The Tournament Committee may limit participants in teams in a particular competition to non – championship players, or players who have gained exemption. Any player who is selected for the Basketball Victoria National Junior Classic is not permitted to play in these competitions, playing of an undeclared championship player or disapproved player shall lead to forfeit of games concerned.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. GRAND FINALS – <\/strong>Grand finals can be played on the Monday up to a 3.30 PM finish. Any age group may be scheduled across the time frame from 8am.
    \nPlease note you need to allow at least one hour travel time prior to departure check in for any interstate flights after completion of the game and presentations.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. TIMING RULES\/LADDERS:
    \nTIMING REGULATIONS \u2013 MINOR ROUND GAMES<\/strong><\/span>
    \nGAME DURATION<\/span><\/strong>
    \n2 \u00d7 18\u2011minute halves<\/span>
    \nHalf time will run for 2 minutes.<\/span>
    \nTIME OUTS<\/span><\/strong>
    \n– 1 time out per team per half<\/span>
    \n– No time outs allowed in last 2 minutes of first half<\/span>
    \n– If called at 2:30, teams return at 2:00<\/span>
    \n– Time outs allowed in last 2 minutes of second half (clock stops)<\/span>
    \n– Time outs are for 1 minute duration only.<\/span>
    \nCLOCK STOPPAGES<\/span><\/strong>
    \n– Clock stops for all whistles in last 2 minutes of second half<\/span>
    \n– No substitutions in last 30 seconds of first half<\/span>
    \nTEAM FOULS<\/span><\/strong>
    \n– Free throws from 9th team foul<\/span>
    \nDRAWS<\/span><\/strong>
    \nDraws are NOT permitted<\/span>
    \nOVERTIME \u2013 ROUND GAMES<\/span><\/strong>
    \n– If scores are tied at the end of Regulation, the game will move into Golden Point Overtime<\/span>
    \n– 1\u2011minute break before Golden Point \u2013 The clock does not re-set for golden point. Play continues until a team scores.<\/span>
    \n– Play continues in the same direction as the second half<\/span>
    \n– Jump ball at center circle<\/span>
    \n– Fouls do not reset<\/span>
    \n– First team to score wins<\/span>

  8. LADDERS
    \n<\/strong>If two teams finish on equal points then the results of the games played against each other ie. the win \/ loss record will decide their positions. (Head to Head)\u00a0 as per normal VJBL rules
    \n<\/strong>Where three or more teams finish on equal points their order shall be determined by the “For and Against” percentage of the games played between the teams concerned<\/span>

El registro de victorias \/ derrotas decidir\u00e1 sus posiciones.<\/span>In a competition of 7 or more teams, where teams do not all play each other, the order will be determined by points first then overall percentage. If teams affected have played each other their order shall be determined by the “For and Against” percentage of the games played between the teams concerned. Where three or more teams finish on equal points and any have not played each other then percentage overall will be used.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \nSIZE 5 BALL – <\/strong>The size 5 ball will be used for all under 10 and 12 girls and boys teams
    \nSIZE 6 BALL – <\/strong>The size 6 ball will be used for all under14-U20 Girls games and \u00a0under 14 boys teams.
    \nSIZE 7 BALL – <\/strong>The size 7 ball will be used for all under16.18 and 20 boys teams<\/span><\/li>\n

  12. SCORING <\/strong>Equipo local (1S t<\/sup> named) will usually do the clock and Away team will do the sheet. Scorers can work this out between themselves but if a dispute arises, this rule will be enforced.<\/span><\/li>\n
  13. ZONE DEFENCE \u2013 UNDER 12, 14 GAMES \u2013 <\/strong>Zone defence is discouraged in Under 10, 12 and 14 games. Teams should use \u2018 man to man \u2018 defence throughout the games.<\/span><\/li>\n
  14. 3 Point line <\/strong>The Under 16, 18 and 20 Age groups shall use the extended 3 point line (6.75m). \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Under 10,12 & 14 age groups shall use the short 3 point line (6.25m)<\/span><\/li>\n
  15. ALL UNDER 10 GAMES – <\/strong>The Mercy Rule will apply when a team has a 15 points lead. It is compelled to use zone defence within the three-point lines.<\/span><\/li>\n
  16. Ring Height <\/strong>All age groups use the normal 10\u20190\u201d ring height. <\/span><\/li>\n
  17. The first half of the match and the start of the golden point period shall begin with a jumpball. In all other jumpball situations, possession shall be given to the team as indicated by the possession arrow.<\/span><\/li>\n
  18. All teams shall have a principal colour singlet and an alternate set available for use at the tournament. The priority of use shall be that the first named (home team) in a game in the fixture shall be entitled to wear their principal singlets. Game must still be played if the opposition does not have a spare set. There is no points penalty.<\/span><\/li>\n
  19. The Tournament Disputes Committee will adjudicate all disputes. These may be reported by referees, coaches or club officials. A “Protest Form” is available from the “Tournament Operations Centre” Nunawading Stadium, and must be lodged with the “Centre” immediately.<\/span><\/li>\n
  20. FIRST AID \/ AMBULANCE POLICY.
    \n<\/strong>First Aid and\/or medical treatment will be the responsibility of the individual concerned and\/or the individuals parent\/guardian or team supervisor. First Aid is not administered by staff at any tournament venue.<\/span>El hospital m\u00e1s cercano a cada estadio se mostrar\u00e1 en cada estadio.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Where the request that an Ambulance is needed to take a player to hospital, the player will be responsible for any ambulance and hospital costs associated with treatment etc.<\/span><\/li>\n

  21. All Stadiums used during this Tournament have a rule of “No swinging on rings or nets” and imposes an immediate ban from the stadium and immediate disqualification from all stadiums for the remainder of the Tournament.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
