From its beginnings in the 1960s to today, the Centre has become synonymous with basketball excellence, community development, and elite competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr data-start=\"627\" data-end=\"630\" \/>\n<h2 data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"663\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong data-start=\"635\" data-end=\"661\">Origins &amp; Construction<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul data-start=\"665\" data-end=\"1030\">\n<li data-start=\"665\" data-end=\"730\">\n<p data-start=\"667\" data-end=\"730\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong data-start=\"667\" data-end=\"676\">1963:<\/strong> Melbourne East Boys Basketball Association founded.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"731\" data-end=\"824\">\n<p data-start=\"733\" data-end=\"824\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong data-start=\"733\" data-end=\"742\">1966:<\/strong> Stadium Building Sub-Committee formed to address the growing demand for courts.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"825\" data-end=\"918\">\n<p data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"918\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong data-start=\"827\" data-end=\"836\">1968:<\/strong> Nunawading Council site secured after local advocacy and community fundraising.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"919\" data-end=\"1030\">\n<p data-start=\"921\" data-end=\"1030\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong data-start=\"921\" data-end=\"930\">1970:<\/strong> Official opening of the original two-court Centre on 24 July by Victorian Premier Dick Hamer.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1032\" data-end=\"1317\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><strong data-start=\"1032\" data-end=\"1051\">Unique Feature:<\/strong> The Centre was built and funded entirely by basketball patrons under the administration of the Nunawading Amateur Basketball Association (NABA) \u2014 a non-profit, community-focused organisation.
