A packed house at The Graveyard is expected as the program relives the very best of its first NBL1 Championship and the campaign to return both women’s and men’s championships in 2K20 is launched.

Diamond Valley will be led by two former Spectres, with Hannah Lowe (women) and Grant Wallace (men) pacing the Eagles’ sideline. New Nunawading recruit, Darcy Harding will have little time to familiarise his new colours, facing off against his teammates of the last two years.

BATTLE LINES DRAWN FOR ANZAC ROUND

Nunawading Spectres @ Ringwood Hawks

Saturday 25 April, 2020 | Women 6:00pm | Men 8:00pm

There’s never any love lost when these two neighbouring programs go toe-to-toe, so why not feature them in an epic ANZAC Round fixture…

The last time these two programs clashed was in the women’s semi final last year, where Nunawading jumped the hometown Hawks, opening the game on a 19-0 run essentially burying Ringwood’s season. Playing on the road didn’t seem to bother the Spectres then but there’s no doubt the Hawk’s will be keen to erase the ghost of season past in this edition.

HOMECOMING MAYHEM

Nunawading Spectres vs Dandenong Rangers

Sunday 17 May, 2020 | Women 1:30pm | Men 3:30pm

The month of May will be a test of resilience for both Spectres’ sides – they face a total of 8 games each across a 4-week stretch. This match up against cross-town rival Dandenong marks the mid-point and a return to The Graveyard on the back of 3-road games.

Two of Victoria’s largest associations, Nunawading and Dandenong have played out some epic contests over the years and all signs point to this one being no different.

A RIVALRY RETURNS

Nunawading Spectres vs Mount Gambier Pioneers

Saturday 13 June, 2020 | Women 5:30pm | Men 7:30pm

Following a year in exhile (SA Premier League), Mount Gambier return to the fold, bringing with them a new element to the rivalry in 2020 with the introduction of the Pioneers women’s team. Whilst the Pioneers featured strongly in the South Australian competition last season, this will be the first time these two storied programs have squared off in NBL1 competition.

Historically, Mount Gambier has been the Spectres achilles heel, especially on what looked to be a championship run for Nunawading. Visions of Dain Swetalla getting knocked to the ground as he attempted a game winning shot at The Icehouse in the 2017 SEABL Conference Final, for it to rim out on a no-call are yet to fade from the memory.

Back at The Graveyard for this instalment, we can’t wait to see what Spectres vs Pioneers 2020 has to offer in the programs’ only match up of the regular season.

GRAND FINAL REMATCH

Nunawading Spectres @ Bendigo Braves

Friday 19 June, 2020 | Women 6:00pm | Men 8:00pm

Quite simply, the Spectres took what the Braves wanted in 2019 and the banner will forever remain in the rafters at The Graveyard serving as a constant reminder.

This will be the first and only time the men’s grand finalists cross paths in the regular season and a raucous Bendigo crowd will make sure it’s as hostile an environment can get with a basketball court in the middle.

Nunawading face a tough double this weekend, scheduled to return home and face Knox less than 48-hours later. So both Spectres’ sides will want to get this game banked to kickstart the round.

INDIGENOUS ROUND BLOCKBUSTER

Nunawading Spectres vs Geelong Supercats

Saturday 11 July, 2020 | Women 5:30pm | Men 7:30pm

There’s something about this match up – particularly late in the season that see’s these two storied programs take it up a notch.

The two programs featured in both women’s and men’s finals last season and all markers point to a similar showing in 2020. It’s a great finals match up a month out from when it all really matters!!

TAKE CHARGE AHEAD OF FINALS

Nunawading Spectres vs Hobart Chargers

Sunday 9 August, 2020 | Women 1:30pm | Men 3:30pm

Just when you thought Rex the Rhino was extinct, some new life was shot into Southern Tassie basketball. The Hobart Chargers return to the fold after a confusing 12-moth hiatus.

This will be the second time in 2020 that these two programs cross paths, the Spectres head to Tassie in Round 11. It will however be Nunawading’s first opportunity to host the Chargers since the 2018 SEABL Grand Final that we all want to avenge.

Some added fuel to the fire see’s Kathleen Scheer return to The Gravyeard.
