The following is a Return to Sport Update regarding\u00a0Phase D of Victoria\u2019s Roadmap to Re-Opening<\/strong>\u00a0and community sport as well as vaccination requirements for\u00a0Basketball Victoria operated<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0leagues, events and activities.<\/p>\n

With Victoria soon to reach 90 per cent double dose (12 plus) vaccination rate, today the\u00a0Victorian Government announced<\/a>\u00a0a further easing of restrictions for Phase D of the\u00a0Roadmap: Delivering the National Plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In line with the easing of these restrictions, Basketball Victoria confirms that as of 11.59pm November 18, 2021 that community basketball related activities can continue under the following COVIDsafe settings:<\/p>\n

Vaccination Requirements –\u00a0Basketball Victoria Operated Leagues, Events and Activities\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As of November 26 –\u00a0in an effort to\u00a0create operational consistency for\u00a0Basketball Victoria operated\u00a0leagues<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0(VJBL and CBL, plus training or try-outs for NBL1 and Big V), events, tournaments, programs, camps or clinics\u00a0across all venues and to encourage a safe environment,\u00a0Basketball Victoria has\u00a0made the decision to require all individuals aged 16 plus to be fully vaccinated (unless medically exempt) to participate<\/strong>. This includes players, coaches, technical officials, spectators, volunteers or staff attending a venue for these events.<\/p>\n

This policy has been introduced following an audit of VJBL and CBL venues that showed more than 65\u00a0per cent of venues were unable to offer the Community Sport Exemption due to the layout, operation or usage of their venues.<\/p>\n

Each venue where a Basketball Victoria operated activity is held is required to have a COVID Check-In Marshal to assist with venue entry. Every patron (16 plus) will be required to check in via the venue QR Code and their smart-phone and will need to show their green tick via the Services Victoria App.<\/p>\n

We understand there can be challenges with checking any patron\u2019s vaccination status, and we ask the community to be patient and considerate when entering any venues holding Basketball Victorian operated activities.<\/p>\n

Vaccination Requirements –\u00a0Community Sport \u2013 Domestic Basketball\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As per the\u00a0Victorian Government\u2019s Directions<\/a>\u00a0there is a vaccination exemption\u00a0for\u00a0community sport, provided the space, including entrances, exits and amenities are\u00a0being operated only for the purpose of conducting a community sport activity.<\/p>\n

Venues may permit spectators and participants, including players,\u00a0coaches\u00a0and volunteers, of community sport can access both indoor and outdoor spaces within a physical recreation facility\u00a0without\u00a0<\/u>showing vaccination status.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

However, where\u00a0community sport is being conducted in a\u00a0facility\u00a0that is unable to provide exclusive use of a space,\u00a0the venue<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0will require all patrons to provide proof of vaccination or exemption.<\/p>\n

Venue staff\u00a0(including volunteers) must be fully vaccinated if their job extends beyond community sport.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
