toward their NBL1 South 2026 season over the weekend, with both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s programs competing at the league\u2019s annual Pre-Season Blitz at Hoop City in Port Melbourne.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"482\" data-end=\"708\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">With new faces across both rosters, the Blitz provided the Spectres with their first real opportunity to test combinations, build chemistry and get meaningful minutes into players ahead of the season opener in Hobart on Friday 27 March.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"710\" data-end=\"875\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Across the three days of competition, Nunawading showed promising signs on both sides of the program as the foundations for Finding Their Rhythm<\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"908\" data-end=\"1071\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">For the Spectres women, the Blitz marked the first competitive outing for a largely new group, making early connection and cohesion a key focus across the weekend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1073\" data-end=\"1206\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Encouragingly, the group showed clear growth from game to game, applying lessons quickly and beginning to establish offensive rhythm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1208\" data-end=\"1409\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">That progress was most evident in Nunawading\u2019s second game of the weekend, where the Spectres exploded for 94 points against Mount Gambier, showcasing the offensive potential of the new-look roster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1411\" data-end=\"1619\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The import pairing of Riley Lupfer and Kylee Blacksten made an immediate impact, combining to drive Nunawading\u2019s offensive flow while giving the Spectres a dangerous scoring presence on the perimeter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1621\" data-end=\"1780\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">While the offensive output was a highlight, the group will continue to sharpen its defensive consistency and rebounding as preparations shift toward Round One.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"ug4hf8\" data-start=\"1782\" data-end=\"1819\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Men Showcase Depth and Versatility<\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1821\" data-end=\"1941\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Nunawading\u2019s men also left the weekend with strong positives, demonstrating the depth and flexibility across the roster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1943\" data-end=\"2138\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The return of Kingsley Box and Dyson King-Hawea strengthens the Spectres rotation, giving the coaching staff the ability to deploy a variety of line-ups and combinations across the floor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2140\" data-end=\"2336\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The team continues to operate on Head Coach Andrew Cutler\u2019s read-and-react system, placing decision-making firmly in the hands of players as they exploit matchups and defensive weaknesses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2338\" data-end=\"2517\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Among the early standouts was Christian D\u2019Angelo, who looks set to take another step this season after spending the summer with Melbourne United\u2019s extended squad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2519\" data-end=\"2668\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">New import Owen Lobsinger also showed promising signs in his first appearance in Spectres colours, displaying significant upside and versatility.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2670\" data-end=\"2922\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The roster is expected to strengthen further in the coming weeks, with Ben Griscti still to arrive following his commitments with the Adelaide 36ers, while the club also continues to
