{"id":3100,"date":"2022-12-20T14:08:45","date_gmt":"2022-12-20T03:08:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nunawadingbasketball.com.au\/?p=3100"},"modified":"2022-12-20T14:08:45","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T03:08:45","slug":"spectres-change-alternate-uniform","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nunawadingbasketball.com.au\/zh_tw\/spectres-change-alternate-uniform\/","title":{"rendered":"Spectres Change Alternate Uniform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Photo courtesy of\u00a0 Connor McKenzie<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Nunawading Spectres NBL1 South and Big V teams will see a change in uniform, with the decision to move from a white alternate to a red alternate set coming into effect for the 2023 NBL1 South and Big V seasons.<\/p>\n<p>The club\u2019s decision comes after the <a href=\"https:\/\/wnbl.basketball\/fighting-period-poverty\/\">WNBL\u2019s inaugural \u2018Fighting Period Poverty\u2019 round<\/a>, which sought to raise awareness around period poverty in Australia, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womens.afl\/news\/117788\/aflw-players-to-no-longer-wear-white-away-shorts-league-confirms?_ga=2.153599857.853839523.1671072572-2138358232.1671072572\">AFLW\u2019s decision to ban white shorts<\/a> aiming to eliminate performance anxiety faced by players during their menstrual cycles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen in the media recently that athletes are voicing their anxieties around wearing white uniforms. Periods aren\u2019t a new thing. We menstruate and our bodies don\u2019t care if we\u2019re wearing a white uniform when that happens,\u201d Nunawading Spectres NBL1 Women\u2019s Captain Rachel Antoniadou said. \u201cThe AFLW and WNBL sparked a conversation internally and the decision to move to a red alternate was a no-brainer. The red alternate set will also come into effect should the U14 teams be selected to compete at the U14 Australian Club Championships moving forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an important change for us as a program and a step in the right direction,\u201d said Nunawading Basketball Operations Manager and NBL1 Women\u2019s Head Coach Paul Flynn. \u201cWe want our program to be educated about why we made this decision. It\u2019s a topic that has often been taboo, it\u2019s important that we bring everyone into this conversation, which is why this uniform change extends beyond just our senior women.
