On Saturday night, the Nunawading Spectres Basketball community came together to celebrate our highest performers, tireless contributors and unsung heroes at the 2025 Senior Presentations.
NBL1 Women
Star guard Rachel Brewster was crowned MVP following another standout campaign, averaging 12.32 points, 1.5 assists and 4.91 rebounds per game. Brewster’s consistency and leadership were key pillars in the Spectres’ season.
The Coaches Award went to Jordan Pyle, whose selfless contributions off the bench proved invaluable. Pyle averaged 4.09 points, 1.5 assists and 3.95 rebounds, often providing a spark in critical moments.
NBL1 Men
In the men’s program, Christian D’Angelo claimed MVP honours after a breakout season that saw him average an impressive 19.37 points, 1.68 assists and 4.26 rebounds per game.
Joe Mutimer earned the Coaches Award, recognised for his strong play-making and reliability, contributing 6.45 points, 3.41 assists and 1.59 rebounds per outing.
Big V Women
It was a dominant year for Taia McMechan, whose 17.5 points, 3.75 assists and 3.58 rebounds per game secured her the MVP award.
In her debut season with the Spectres, Madi Papworth took home the Coaches Award, averaging 3.48 points and 3 rebounds while quickly establishing herself as a valued teammate.
Big V Men
Dylan Johnstone capped off a consistent season by claiming MVP, averaging 14.14 points, 1.77 assists and 5.41 rebounds per game.
Campbell Jackson’s dedication and work ethic earned him the Coaches Award after contributing 4 points and 1.81 rebounds per contest.
Under 20 Men
The U20 MVP went to Campbell Jackson, who led from the front with a 18-point-per-game average. Nathan Di Cesare was awarded the Coaches Award after averaging 5.72 points per game and displaying excellent team-first qualities.
Spirit of Spectres Awards
The Spirit of Spectres is awarded to individuals who embody the values, culture and community spirit of Nunawading Basketball.

Senior Women – Madi Papworth: Actively involved as a development and holiday camp coach, Papworth is a trusted, enthusiastic mentor loved by the young athletes she guides.

Senior Men – Grantham Milner: Balancing multiple roles, Milner serves as a development and holiday program coach, as well as a referee and supervisor for domestic competitions.

Senior Program Volunteer – ロレイン・バクスター: A behind-the-scenes champion, Baxter devotes countless hours each week washing, folding and organising uniforms, contributing far beyond her official duties.
