Dear Nunawading Basketball Community,

Over the past two years, Whitehorse Council have been working with @Leisure Planners on the development of an Indoor Sports Feasibility Study (below) to assess the current and future demand of indoor stadiums within the municipality. At the Whitehorse Council meeting on Monday 28 January, Councillors endorsed the Indoor Sports Facility Feasibility Study which is now available for community feedback on Council’s website www.oursay.org/whitehorsecitycouncil/indoorsports.

LETTER FROM WHITEHORSE CITY COUNCIL

As you will be acutely aware, the Melbourne East Basketball Association and Nunawading Basketball is growing rapidly and we are well above capacity with games being scheduled at more satellite venues and at later times into the evening, along with the strain on clubs with lack of access for training throughout the week. The MEBA is home to more than 1,100 teams with a record 11,351 players participating last year. Through the construction of more courts within the community not only will competitions continue to flourish, new programs such as PWID and Wheelchair will be established and our clubs will see greater access to training facilities.

We ask that you read the study, provide Council with your feedback via the link provided, post on your website/social media channels and distribute this email to all of your contacts and request their input as we work with Council to secure additional courts at Nunawading and other local satellite venues.

Kind Regards,

MARK HALLETT CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
