Melbourne – The Nunawading Spectres have signed club captain Rachel Antoniadou to a contract extension that will see the star guard return for her sixth year at the club and another run at the NBL1 Championship.

Nunawading Basketball Operations Manager Paul Flynn said, “We know exactly what we’ll get every time she steps on the floor. Rachel’s impact both on and off the court cannot be overstated. Her unparalleled drive and leadership generate sustained excellence from herself, whilst elevating the performance of her teammates.”

Antoniadou appeared in 23-games for the Spectres across 2022, posting 11.2 points, 5.0 assists and 3.8 rebounds per outing. She claimed NBL1 South Footlocker Player of the Week honours in Round 9 posting 18.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 6.5 rebounds across a double-win weekend against Diamond Valley and Launceston.

A Victoria Country junior, Antoniadou arrived at The Graveyard in 2018 in the then South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL). She has led the Spectres into post-season action every year and is motivated to guide Nunawading to their first senior women’s title since the 1989 WNBL Championship.
