Dear Junior Clubs,

On behalf of the NABA and MEBA Boards and the Junior Domestic Committee, we welcome you all back for the Winter 2021 season of the MEBA and GEBC Junior Domestic Competitions. We trust that you had an enjoyable and relaxing Easter/School Holiday break and are ready and raring to go for what we hope will be a successful COVID-Normal season.

A special Thank You to all clubs for your efforts in getting team entries ready and submitted on time. We appreciate the short turnaround time between seasons and thank you for your commitment to getting the kids back on court.

As we’ve seen throughout COVID, things can change rapidly and the information provided below is an update based on the most recent information from the Government, DHHS and Basketball Victoria.

PLAYER REGISTRATION

A reminder to all clubs to please allocate players into their respective teams prior to arrival for round 1 as this process could eat into the match time on game day if allocation is done courtside.

MATCH ATTENDANCE

Last week the Victorian Government announced further easing of restrictions to increase capacity for community sport and seated events. Under the new restriction’s community sports facilities can operate subject to a density limit of 1 person per 2 sqm. As such our venues will now be allowing all spectators to attend, subject to the capacity restrictions. We ask that you remain considerate of all families attending when bringing along extra supporters.

To assist with managing these increased number of people within the venue (particular during game changeover) we will continue to ask families not arrive for their game until 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time.

We are also please to advise that from the start of the Winter ’21 season players will again be permitted to bring a basketball with them to games. Please ensure any basketball brought to the facility is cleaned with a disinfectant wipe or with Glen20 spray prior to arrival.

Finally, all patrons are reminded to use the QR Sign-In Code upon entry.

MATCH PAYMENTS

For the Winter ’21 season and beyond, teams will need to have their team sheet fee paid prior to the start of the game each week. At each venue the Venue Supervisor or Referee Supervisor will have a tablet showing which teams have not paid prior to tip-off and will be available to assist if required.

As we start the new season, we anticipate many new Team Managers using Teammo for the first time. Attached to this letter is the Teammo On-Boarding PDF with links to instructional YouTube clips. We ask that all clubs pass on this information to their team managers prior to Round 1. Additionally, the link below will take you to a list of instructional videos for on-boarding.

**IMPORTANT** Teammo have advised that all junior teams will need to update their connection to MEBA for the Winter season. This is due to PlayHQ team codes changing season-to-season. Teammo will be disconnecting the summer connections which will prompt team managers to connect to their team in Winter ’21 when they next log in. There are steps in the PDF pack on how to do this and below are other related help links:

MATCH RESULTS

To avoid the issues that occurred during the Summer season in relation to lost results, we will be implementing a new end of day procedure for our venue/referee supervisors. As part of this procedure, we are asking clubs to advise all teams/families/scorers to take a photo of the scores at the end of the game as an additional back-up. It is important to note that this photo must be of the computer and not the scoreboard.

As always, the health and safety of our members is paramount and we continue to be guided by the Government, DHHS, Whitehorse Council and Basketball Victoria and this advice/information may be subject to further change. On behalf of the Boards and Committees of the Nunawading Amateur Basketball Association and Melbourne East Basketball Associations, we thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we all navigate our way through these challenging times.

Good Luck to all Clubs and Teams for the Winter ’21 season.

Sincerely,

Mark Hallett
