Give your child the perfect introduction to basketball with Ford Aussie Hoops at Nunawading Basketball.

Ford Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official junior game development program for children aged 5–10 years. The program provides a fun, inclusive and supportive environment where children can learn the fundamentals of basketball, build confidence, make new friends and develop a love for the game.

At Nunawading, our Ford Aussie Hoops sessions are designed to help every child feel comfortable on the court, whether they are picking up a basketball for the very first time or already have some basic skills.

Each session is focuses on:

  • Fundamental motor skills for sport and movement

  • Basketball skill development with age-appropriate equipment and drills

  • Teamwork, respect, and social connection

  • Confidence building through consistent encouragement and success

Our programs are designed by elite-level coaches to create multi-functional, engaging sessions that develop both the person and the player. All Ford Aussie Hoops sessions at Nunawading are played on lowered rings, helping children develop correct shooting technique while experiencing success and building confidence.

After two to three terms, participants are encouraged to transition into a domestic club team – the next step in the Nunawading Basketball pathway.

What is Ford Aussie Hoops?

Ford Aussie Hoops is Basketball Australia’s official introductory basketball program for young children.

The program is designed to give children a positive first experience of basketball in a safe, fun and inclusive environment. Through a combination of skill-based activities, games and teamwork, children gradually develop the skills and confidence they need to participate in basketball.

Most importantly, Ford Aussie Hoops is about having fun.

We want every child to finish their session feeling proud of what they have achieved, excited to come back and ready to keep developing their skills.


Ford Aussie Hoops at Nunawading

Monday – All Girls

Our All Girls Ford Aussie Hoops session provides a fun, supportive and energetic environment for girls aged 5–10 to learn and enjoy basketball.

Led by experienced coaches, each session focuses on developing fundamental basketball skills through fun, age-appropriate activities and games.

Girls will build confidence while learning skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting and movement, while also developing teamwork and making new friends.

10 sessions | $100 for the term


Tuesday – Mixed

4:00–4:45pm | Courts 1 & 2

A fun and inclusive session for boys and girls aged 5–10.

Children will develop their basketball fundamentals through engaging drills, games and activities designed to improve their confidence, coordination and understanding of the game.

Whether your child is completely new to basketball or continuing to develop their skills, everyone is welcome.

10 sessions | $100 for the term


Wednesday – Mixed

4:00–4:45pm | Courts 1 & 2

Our Wednesday session provides another opportunity for boys and girls aged 5–10 to learn, play and develop their basketball skills in a fun and encouraging environment.

Sessions focus on fundamental skills, movement, teamwork and confidence, with plenty of opportunities for children to have fun with the ball in their hands.

11 sessions | $110 for the term

Ford Aussie Hoops Participant Pack

New participants are required to purchase the Ford Aussie Hoops participant pack as part of their first registration. The participant starter pack provides children with the equipment they need to get started with Ford Aussie Hoops. Starter packs are an additional $50 from registration.

Who is Ford Aussie Hoops for?

Ford Aussie Hoops is suitable for all abilities.

Your child does not need any previous basketball experience to join. The program is ideal for children who:

  • Are new to basketball
  • Want to learn the fundamentals before joining a team
  • Are developing their coordination and movement skills
  • Want to build confidence on the court
  • Enjoy active, fun and social activities
  • Aren’t quite ready to commit to playing in a domestic competition

Whether it’s their first time holding a basketball or they’re already comfortable with the basics, our coaches will help them learn and progress at their own pace.

Credit & Refund Policy

Refunds and credits are available under the following conditions:

Notice Period Reason Credit / Refund
7+ days before first class Injury or illness (Doctor’s certificate required) 100% Refund or Credit
Less than 7 days notice Injury or illness (Doctor’s certificate required) 50% Credit only
After program has started Change of mind or schedule clash No refund, 25% Credit
  • Full refunds are not available. A $5 admin fee and PlayHQ fees will be deducted where applicable.

  • Credits will not be issued for late enrolments.


Photography & Media

Our staff may take photos during the program for media and marketing use in line with the Basketball Victoria Photography and Filming Policy.
If you prefer that your child not be photographed, please email rachel@nunawadingbasketball.com.au prior to the first session.
