Walking Basketball

Walking Basketball is a low-impact, social, and fun way for people of all ages, genders, and abilities to stay active. Developed by Basketball Victoria, the program focuses on fitness, skill development, and community engagement in a non-competitive environment.

How It Works

Each session at Nunawading Basketball includes:

  1. Stretching & Warmups – dribbling, passing, and mobility exercises

  2. Skill Drills – low-impact drills tailored to all participants

  3. Game Play – slower-paced basketball with regular breaks and encouragement

Our emphasis is on fun, support, and social connection, making it perfect for:

  • Older adults looking to maintain health and fitness

  • Individuals returning from injury

  • Anyone looking for a welcoming, inclusive basketball experience

Social & Community Focus

After each session, participants enjoy tea, coffee, and morning tea from Bakers Delight Vermont South.
This social component is required by Basketball Victoria and helps foster relationships between participants and build community.
