NUNAWADING BASKETBALL – The Nunawading Spectres announced today the signing of import Megan Mullings for the upcoming Coles Express NBL1 South season.

Mullings is no stranger to the program, the athletic forward having originally signed to a star-studded Spectres roster in 2020 before the season was cancelled.

“We are beyond thrilled to finally be bringing Megan into our program,” Spectres Head Coach Paul Flynn said.

“Megan is a tremendous talent, a proven performer at NBL1 level and is a wonderful addition to the Nunawading Basketball program.”

“We originally signed her back in 2020 but unfortunately that season never eventuated. Megan was incredible with how she stayed connected with both myself and a number of our players. It’s given us a lot of time to get to know each other and when the opportunity presented to sign her this year, we jumped at the opportunity.”

Mullings has enjoyed a successful professional career to date that includes stints in Germany, Luxembourg, Finland, Romania and Australia. She most recently played for BC Pharmaserv Marburg in the German DBBL.

Speaking from her home in Arizona, Mullings said,” I am so excited for the opportunity to be a Spectre. Losing to Nunawading in my last game with Ringwood in 2019 cut deep, but I admired the team then and as I’ve gotten to know the girls over time, I’m ecstatic to be a part of the program now.”

“The NBL1 is such a different kind of league. It’s fun, it’s engaging, it’s exciting and I love the way Australia really got around that inaugural year. I’ve ben watching all of the developments the past two years and I am loving the growth. It’s going to be a truly competitive season and I am looking forward to it.”

Mullings will play an integral part not just on the court with the Spectres but also in the community, taking a lead role with the Forest Hill College Basketball Academy and Nunawading Basketball Development Programs.

“I am really looking forward to getting to know the Nunawading Basketball community. I really enjoy coaching and working with youth programs, so I am excited for that.”

“I’m looking forward to seeing all the friends I made in my first year here and I am stoked to play at Nunawading basketball Centre, it’s such a cool gym with lots of rich history.”

The Coles Express NBL1 South season is scheduled to tip off in April 2022, with a full home / away regular season fixture expected to drop soon.
