Beginner Programs

The Nunawading Basketball Development Programs deliver high-quality fundamental skill development and a fun learning environment. Providing boys and girls with a fun and safe basketball experience that serves as an introduction to a lifetime of involvement in the game.

Children learn the fundamental motor skills for future physical activity and sports participation along with the basics of fitness conditioning, muscle management, and well-being. Important physiological and mental skills are nurtured, and respect for others as well as social, teamwork, and cooperation skills are developed.

Our programs are designed by our elite-level coaches for multi-functional environments, creating greater self-confidence and fostering a sense of teamwork for young athletes while focusing on basketball fundamentals. We are aware that our beginner programs are a fun and safe environment for young athletes to get comfortable with the game; however, after 2-3 terms, participants will be encouraged to pursue a team with one of our domestic clubs. You can find a list of our junior domestic clubs here.

All programs are run at Nunawading Basketball Centre on Burwood Highway. Children are required to wear comfortable clothes and non-marking shoes.

SKILLS ACADEMY

At Nunawading Basketball, the Miss Swish and Skills Academy programs are designed for children aged 5-12 years old, and aim to provide the foundations of skill development. Each week we will deliver professionally designed programs to foster this continual development on lowered rings to encourage correct technique.

All new registrations will receive a basketball. All returning registrations will receive a Nunawading Basketball T-shirt or training singlet.
