NUNAWADING SPECTRES 2026/27 U12-U18 REPRESENTATIVE TRYOUTS
Nunawading Basketball is pleased to confirm key dates for the Nunawading Spectres 2026/27 Representative Program tryout process.
Tryouts will commence from Friday 2 October 2026, with athletes progressing through a series of sessions as selections are refined across each age group.
The Nunawading Spectres continue to provide one of Australia’s premier junior basketball development pathways, with opportunities available across both boys and girls programs from U12 through to U18 to participate in VJBL competition.
Please note that the Nunawading Spectres will continue to field U20 teams in VJBL competition. The U20 selection process will be conducted separately to the U12-U18 age groups, with further information and key dates to be released at a later date.
PRE-TRYOUT SESSIONS
To assist with athlete identification and planning for the upcoming representative season, pre-tryout sessions will be conducted for:
- Under 12 Boys
- Under 14 Boys
- Under 16 Boys

Who are Pre-Tryouts for?
Pre-tryouts are designed for athletes who have not played representative basketball and are currently playing domestic basketball.
These sessions are intended to provide an additional opportunity for players currently competing in domestic basketball competitions to be identified prior to the commencement of the formal tryout process.
Athletes who are currently playing representative basketball, whether with the Nunawading Spectres or another association, are not required to attend the pre-tryout session and should instead attend the scheduled Spectres tryouts commencing Friday 2 October 2026.
Further information regarding pre-tryout session times, registration requirements and eligibility criteria will be released closer to the date.
TRYOUT DATES
The Nunawading Spectres 2026/27 Representative Tryout process will be conducted across the following dates:
- Friday 2 October 2026
- Saturday 3 October 2026
- Sunday 4 October 2026
- Tuesday 6 October 2026
- Wednesday 7 October 2026
- Thursday 8 October 2026
- Friday 9 October 2026
Please note that athletes selected to progress through the tryout process will be expected to attend all allocated sessions for their age group.
The tryout process is conducted in stages, with players progressing through successive rounds of evaluation. Attendance at each stage forms an important component of the selection process and failure to attend may impact a player’s eligibility for selection.
Specific attendance requirements and progression information will be communicated throughout the tryout period. Noting not all age groups are active on each of the above dates.
A detailed schedule outlining age group allocations, session times, registration information, costs and tryout requirements will be released in the coming months.
