NUNAWADING SPECTRES TOURNAMENT THE LARGEST EVER

MELBOURNE – The Nunawading Spectres Tournament was once again run across the June long-weekend, with Nunawading Basketball playing host to the largest single-association event in Australia.

Nunawading Basketball and the Melbourne East Basketball Association – Australia’s biggest basketball association (unique registrations), welcomed 815 teams into their annual tournament event, played across 61 courts at 16 venues including the Nunawading Basketball Centre.

Over 9,300 players participated in the event, coming from as far as the USA (4 teams) and 297 interstate teams. This year’s event presented a 25% increase on 2022, with an impressive 43% of all participants being female.

The Nunawading Spectres Tournament runs parallel to the National Junior Classic and has become an unmissable event on the sports calendar for so many Australian basketball programs. With such impressive participation numbers, plus coaches, officials, volunteers and visiting family and friends, the tournament is a huge boon for the local economy.

Nunawading Basketball is thrilled to announce the release of the Whitehorse City Council [Draft] East Burwood Reserve Masterplan, on which Nunawading Basketball Centre sits. The [Draft] Masterplan is the culmination of years of advocacy and planning and has been released to the wider community for feedback that will be vitally important in finalising the Masterplan.
