The Nunawading Spectres Big V Youth teams return to The Graveyard this Sunday for a critical double-header as both squads look to bounce back from tough losses last round.
Youth Women vs Ringwood Hawks – 12:30pm Tip-Off
The Youth Women will be eager to steady the ship after a heartbreaking loss to the Waverley Falcons last weekend. With Head Coach Amy Quick away on Vic Metro U18 Women’s duties, Assistant Coach Casey Giles stepped into the lead role and will again guide the group against a tough Ringwood outfit.
Despite the result, the Spectres showed resilience and flashes of brilliance, particularly from rising stars Teagan Potter and Issy Godfrey. Potter, along with teammate Nat Kerian, continues to impress and has earned a call up to NBL1 level – a testament to the strength of the Spectres development pathway.
Ringwood will present a new challenge, but expect the home side to come out with intent and energy as they chase a much-needed win.
Youth Men vs Wyndham Devils – 2:30pm Tip-Off
For the Youth Men, this weekend is about redemption. After a tough road double that saw them fall to both Keysborough and Hume City, the team will be aiming to right the wrongs and make a statement back on home court.
Leading the charge is Dylan Johnstone, who’s been a consistent force with averages of 18.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. The return of Dihan Wiggett -fresh off stints with the NBL1 South team – adds another level of firepower. Wiggett’s impact at both ends of the floor, averaging 12.0 points and 6.5 boards, will be crucial in tipping the scales against a dangerous Wyndham squad.
With both teams hungry and determined, Sunday promises to deliver some entertaining basketball at Nunawading Stadium.
