Round 3 of the Big V Youth Championship saw the Nunawading Spectres play host to the Frankston Blues in a thrilling home double-header at The Graveyard. The Spectres’ women continued their strong start to the season with a commanding 96-83 victory, while the men fought hard but ultimately fell to an undefeated Frankston side, 61-81.

Women’s Recap: Spectres Shine in High-Scoring Affair

The Spectres women showcased their offensive firepower in a high-paced contest, led by an outstanding performance from Issy Godfrey. Godfrey lit up the scoreboard with 30 points and 7 assists, steering Nunawading to an impressive win.

Mia Tamburrini delivered her best game of the season to date, adding 22 points and making a significant impact defensively with 5 steals. The team’s collective effort proved too much for Frankston, solidifying the Spectres as a force to be reckoned with in 2025.

Men’s Recap: Hard-Fought Battle Against League Leaders

The Spectres men faced a daunting challenge against an undefeated Frankston outfit, eventually falling 61-81. Despite the result, Dylan Johnston continued his stellar form, finishing with 26 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists in a standout performance.

Curtis Brecko provided strong support with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, battling hard on both ends of the floor. Though the result wasn’t in Nunawading’s favor, the squad showed resilience against one of the competition’s top teams.

The Spectres men will look to bounce back with a double-header weekend, first taking on Keysborough on the road Saturday night before returning home on Sunday for a showdown with Hume City.
