MELBOURNE – The Nunawading Spectres have extended Nick Jackson as the programs Big V women’s head coach.

Jackson, a long-time assistant at Victorian Youth Championship level stepped into the head coach role in 2018, producing an impressive 35-13 win-loss record (.729) in his two seasons at the helm. More impressive is the number of players Jackson has promoted in the Spectres NBL1 program in that time.

“We are thrilled that Nick will continue to lead our Victorian Youth Championship women,” said Paul Flynn, Nunawading Basketball Operations Manager.

“He has a great rapport with our young players and displays the high-level character and integrity we champion when developing our aspiring senior representatives.”

Nunawading will be largely ‘new-look’ this season, with much of the roster that claimed regular season honours in 2019 aging out or moving up within the program. Boasting an abundance of youth and athleticism, the Spectres are poised for their sixth consecutive playoff appearance in 2021.

“I’m excited to be back and looking forward to building on our programs previous successes,” Jackson said.

“Nunawading continues to provide a fantastic pathway for its aspiring athletes, and I am honoured to be given the opportunity to continue with an exciting new group of Victorian Youth Championship players.”

The Spectres will return to Big V competition in 2021 on the back of the Covid-19 pandemic forced hiatus. A confirmed starter in the Victorian Youth Championship division, Nunawading will open Round 1 (13-14 March).
