MELBOURNE – The Nunawading Spectres are set to star in the 2021 NBL1 season, with the league announcing a blockbuster schedule across four conferences today.

NBL1 Central will begin on Saturday April 10 with every team playing in a five-game slate while NBL1 West tips off on Friday April 16, NBL1 South starts on Saturday April 17 and finally NBL1 North will tip off on Friday May 14.

The Spectres open their campaign on the road with a visit to old foes, the Frankston Blues locked in for Saturday 17 April (Women 5:30pm / Men 7:30pm).

Nunawading will play their home opener in Round 2, Sunday 25 April against Sandringham – the event made even more extraordinary as the Spectres men will finally be presented with their 2019 NBL1 championship rings and another banner raised to the rafters at Nunawading Basketball Centre (NBC).

NBL1 will stage feature rounds across the season, with Nunawading set to host the Dandenong Rangers in Pink Round across Mother’s Day Weekend on 7-9 May, and the Kilsyth Cobras for Indigenous Round during NAIDOC Week on 9-11 July. More information about these rounds will be announced soon.

Each conference will complete its regular season and conference finals by September 5, with the men’s and women’s champions to then compete in the inaugural NBL1 Finals Series in Melbourne from September 10-12.

As the league makes its return on the back of the Covid-cancelled season, the Spectres are itching to get back on court at NBC and in front of the best fans in Australia. At this stage it is anticipated that there will be a cap on game day capacity, which makes a 2021 Nunawading Spectres NBL1 membership even more appealing to the Spectres faithful – details due to be released shortly.

Both Spectres teams have commenced official preseason work, having already announced a number of key signings ahead of the season. Keep up-to-date with all Spectres NBL1 news via www.nunawadingspectres.nbl.com.au
