With over 1,000 teams entering, our grading team take great care to ensure grading is as accurate as possible. Grading suggestions below are based on previous years comparisons.
Use these guidelines to choose a grade and include any notes if your team is missing players, seeking a challenge, or had an unusual season.
Classic Grade (National Junior Classic Eligible Teams Only)
- Only for teams also entered in the National Junior Classic.
- Teams missing Classic selection will be moved to A Grade.
- No payment required at entry stage.
- Email juniortourn@nunawadingbasketball.com.au for a Classic code.
- Payment required within 24 hours of Classic selection if the team is not selected for the National Junior Classic.
Other Grade Guidelines **Subject to change depending on team numbers
A Grade
- All VC, High VJL1, SA Div 1, NSW: Premier and High Div 1.
A Reserve
- Low VJL1 – High VJL2, SA: Low Div 1, NSW: Mid – Low Div 1, QLD: Div 1, Strong Domestic A Grade.
B1 Grade
- Suitable for Mid VJL 2–High VJL3, SA: High Div 2, NSW: High Div 2.
B2 – B3 Grades
- Suitable for Mid VJL3 – Mid VJL4, SA: High-Mid Div 2, NSW: High- Mid Div 2, High Level B Grade Domestic.
B4 – B6 Grade
- Suitable for Low VJL 4– High VJL7, SA: Mid-Low Div 2, NSW: Mid-Low Div 2.
C1 – C2 Grade
- Suitable for Mid VJL 7– Low VJL8, NSW Div 3– High Div 4, mid‑level domestic teams.
C3 – C4 Grade
- Suitable for VJL 9– High VJL11, SA/ NSW Mid Div 4– Div 5
C5 – C6 Grade
- Suitable for VJL 11– VJL12, SA/ NSW High Div 6
D Grade
- Suitable for VJL 12 and below, interstate Div 6 and below, low domestic teams.
- Players who currently play or have played in any representative (rep) competition are NOT eligible for Under 10.
- A Grade (U10): For players not currently in rep but showing strong skills or in rep development squads.
- B Grade (U10): For lower‑level domestic players not yet considered for rep development. Players who regularly play on a lowered ring.

Your team’s entry fee covers all stadium entry for players, coaches, family and supporters.
No additional payment required.
Raffle tickets are an optional way to support the tournament if you choose to purchase a ticket.
Tournament Days:
- Starts Saturday 8:00am.
- Games start each morning at 8am and conclude on Saturday and Sunday nights by 9.50pm.
- Tournament will be concluded by Monday by 3:30pm (Grand Finals)
- Under 20 games may start each morning at 8am and conclude by 9.50pm on Saturday and Sunday night. Under 20 Grand Finals will be concluded by SUNDAY EVENING
Travel Tip:
Interstate teams should book evening flights. Allow at least 1 hour travel time to Melbourne Airport.
Number of Games:
- Minimum 5 games guaranteed.
Game Format:
- No semi‑finals unless grades have a small number of teams.
- Finals Structure:
- Multi‑pool grades → top of each pool plays Grand Final
- Single pool → top 2 teams play Grand Final
Referees—local or interstate—are welcome and accommodated. We are happy to work around associated teams.

With over 1,000 teams, fixture preparation is complex.
- Expected release: 5:00pm Wednesday prior to the event
- We will notify you if it is earlier or delayed.
- Please do not contact us for updates—this delays the process.
Team organisers receive a Player Participation link in their confirmation email.
- This link can be forwarded to parents to register players.

When registering, please use the following format:
TEAM NAME, AGE GROUP, GENDER, TEAM NUMBER

We must have a team number (preferred), colour, or coach name. This assists with grading and ensuring teams are not confused.
Players may compete in an “Under” age group only if they do NOT turn that age in 2026.
Example:
A player turning 14 in 2026 must play Under 16.
Interstate teams do not need to pay the Basketball Victoria License fee. You will not be prompted to pay this fee when registering players.

Refund structure:
- Before 10 May: Full refund minus PlayHQ fee
- 10–17 May: 50% refund minus PlayHQ fee
- After 17 May: No refund
The refund structure is non negotiable.
First aid is the responsibility of the:
- player
- parent/guardian
- team support staff
Venue staff do not provide first aid treatment. We can provide addresses of the closest emergency departments or priority care facilities.
