The Nunawading Spectres have won through to both women’s & men’s Big V Preliminary Finals to be played at The Graveyard this Sunday 31 July.

It was the Spectres women who advanced first, claiming a 12-point victory over an impressive Hume Broncos outfit. Steph Georgantas lead the way for the home side, recording 22 points and 9 rebounds in the win, ably supported by Captain Taylah Schmidtke with 19 points and 4 assists. The Spectres jumped out to an early lead in the opening period, never looking back to advance to the Preliminary Final where they’ll face a surging Casey Cavaliers side.

The Nunawading men secured their ticket to the Prelim with a solid road win over Casey 76-71. It was an arm-wrestle through out, with the Spectres holding a marginal advantage in each of the first three quarters. The Cavs made a strong push in the fourth but it wasn’t enough to steal back the win. Nunawading had three players in double digits, lead by Christian D’Angelo with 26 points, Jaylen Gordon (14) and Curtis Brecko (12). Nunawading now face Ballarat at The Graveyard this Sunday.
