Nunawading Basketball and its wider community is saddened by the passing of Nunawading Basketball Hall of Fame, TOC Nunawading Hall of Fame and VBRA Wall of Fame inductee Neil Bradbury.

A consistent presence in the development of officials, coaches and players alike Neil contributed over 50 years of service to the game of basketball, 25 years as a Referee Advisor at Nunawading Basketball. Neil was a Level 4 Australia Badge Referee, officiating at NBL and WNBL levels then transitioning into becoming one of Australia’s most respected influential Referee Coaches.

In 1975 Neil was appointed to the Australian Junior Championships Referee Commission, a position he held through to 2008. He served as VBRA President between 1978-1988 whilst also joining the Australian Basketball Federation Technical Committee 1985-1987.

Closer to home, Neil served as an integral member of the VBRA Nunawading (now TOC Nunawading) Committee from 2003-2015, including 6 years as President and 2 years as Vice President. Neil displayed an incredible and unwavering passion towards the development of junior referees, and it comes as no surprise to see the achievements of many that received his mentorship.

Our thoughts are with the Bradbury family and close friends through this difficult time. Neil will be remembered fondly by the Nunawading Basketball community.
